    Default Wiped out Zones?

Well, It's the second time it's happened now, so I am becoming concerned. My IP zones have been cleaned out and none of my settings are in the fields except the basic network adapters? Is there a way to save them as a backup? Is there a way to secure them?X-(

Hi!if you are using the free version, no, there is no backup option. If you use the retail version is under the ZA overview --> preferences.Corruption of the ZA settings happens usually for the following mainreasons:- you are infected by malware;- you are running software that conflicts with ZA- your PC has crashed/hang recently- you force a shutdown (cold shutdown)Cheers,Fax

I was thinking the issue could have been related because outdated OS running version 8.0 (Free) by the following :

As a result, Check Point will cease to support Windows 2000 with the introduction of our version 8.0 ZoneAlarm family of products including ZoneAlarm
    Internet Security Suite 2009, ZoneAlarm
    Pro, ZoneAlarm
    Antivirus, ZoneAlarm
    Anti-Spyware, and ZoneAlarm
    .

    Note about pre-8.0 products:

    * Pre-8.0 products will continue to run on the Windows 2000 operating system and receive signature updates such as virus and spyware signatures. However, there will be new and advanced protection features in post-8.0 ZoneAlarm products that will not be added to pre-8.0 products. ZoneAlarm strongly recommends upgrading to a supported and current version of the Windows operating system.

    My apology for incorrect suggestion.

Thanx for the fax re possible causes.
I am doing a full scan with Spyware Doctor as I write. No crashes or cold stops. There is one personality change with the laptop:
Windows Updates are set to download and advise (let me decide what to update).Usually, there would appear a yellow shield icon on the taskbar to allow me to peruse the downloaded updates before allowing. This does not happen anymore, but updates appear every day and install, even on limited account?Thinks it may be part of the mystery?
