Default Zone Alarm and Cisco VPN difficulty.

I am running ZA Extreme 8.0.298.035 on a Vista laptop, and Cisco VPN client 5.0.03.0560.
Like others, I have difficulty connecting while ZA is running.

I found that shutting down ZA, starting VPN, and connecting one RDP session and one putty session and then restarting ZA gives me the ability to connect to other machines from that point on over VPN. It must be that once the necessary ports are opened, they remain available, even after ZA is restarted. I don't like shutting down ZA, but have no alternative.

Any suggestions on a way of doing this without a shutdown of ZA??

    Operating System:Windows Vista Home Premium
    Software Version:8.0
