Default My Zonealarm has troubles believing me

Regularly I get messages such as ...

Program [any program I trust] is trying to communicate with f:\zonealarm/zlclient.exe opening its process
When I know this concerns a program that I know, and that I trust, I click to allow this process.
Since I trust my program, I also choose to "apply this setting to all suspicious behaviours"...

The last few years this has always worked fine. Since a few weeks however, ZoneAlarm seems reluctant to believe me.
As long as my session is on, as long as I do not shut down my computer, things are fine.
I mark some programs as "changes frequently", and all works fine.

Then I shut down my computer.
The next day I boot my computer, and start everything. Zonealarm seems to have forgotten everything I entered the day before.

What is causing this please? This has been going on since weeks and is driving me crazy. I have run several virusscanners on my system additionally to find out if it concerns a virus, but no viruses are found.

    Thanks for any help.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    Welcome to the Forum!

I am very sorry that you are having issues with ZA and hopefully I will be able to help you find a solution.

PLEASE try the following, as this will bring the firewall back to the original settings.

I think is your Zone Alarm database has gotten corrupt and does not remember your Zones settings. Reset your database and see if that will fix it. Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

MAKE SURE you remove ALL the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files.

Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

    1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode.

    2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.

    3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.

    4.Then empty the Recycle Bin.

    5. Reboot into the normal mode.

How Do I Boot Into Safe Mode?

PLEASE keep me posted on your results, THANKS.

    Many thanks for the help.

I indeed deleted both files in safe mode.
Then I followed the advice given in another thread in this forum and installed ZoneAlarm 7.448
Since 2 days things seem to be working perfectly again!
