    Default scan completely hangs computer

    Hi there,
Thanks in advance for any help with this problem.
Upon running an av/as scan my computer completely
hangs up during the scan somewhere and will not
recover without doing an emergency shutdown.
I let it run all night last night and this morning
it was still hung up all morning until i shut off power at noon.
The scan result was showing 0 active results but my
computer was inoperative except for being able to
move the windows around. I wasn't able to open the
tasks window with control/alt/del to see what was running.
It just started doing this recently. I wonder
if I should reinstall zonealarm from the cd. If
i did this could i update to current firewall via
    the za website?
I have the security suite i believe. You would
think i could get a little help from za but i guess
that is too much to ask for nowadays. Does everyone
here still think the zonealarm is a good buy even
without any support? My renewal date is approaching.
I have some other av/asw software on the computer
but i haven't run it very often. I think i have
tweaknow registry cleaner, spybot, and adaware.
I think there might have been symantec on this
computer but i think i disabled it upon getting za.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
