Default Poor performance Security Suite 7.0.462.000

The recent update has caused a great performance problem.
File coping for on volume to anohter 2 minutes with virus scan, 10 seconds without.
Whole disk virus scan of 30 gigabyte of date did not complte within 5 hours, second attempt ran 10 hours and showed that no files were scanned.
Looking up file properties on 200 megabyte file with virus scan on over 1 minute, without virus scan on immediate.
This is not acceptable so it is either repair or replace, I see from other postings that this is not unknown, so does ZoneAlarm plan on a correction or do I replace with another
    company?

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

Wow, looks like I picked the wrong product off the shelf yesterday. You mean to tell me that in 2007 we're still talking about "Completely un-install, then try re-installing... If that doesn't work, boot into safe mode and do a ZASS (undocumented command, apparently)... If that doesn't work, try completely re-installing windows..." ?

This product has exactly two more days to fix my computer - I REFUSE to dink with this for months. Either it can deliver on the packaging's promises of "complete security", "easy to use", "instant protection", etc., or I broadcast as loudly as I can what a POS it is.
