Default What does "Viruses Labeled Not-a-Virus" Mean?

After installing ZA Security Suite 7.1 then running the antivirus and antispyware modules, I got the following results:

    Virus Name: not-a-virus:Monitor.Win32.SupremeSpy.a
    Date Detected: 09 Nov 2007 22:25:00 +0300
    Date Modified: 11 Dec 2007 16:29:56 +0300

    Virus Name: not-a-virus:Monitor.Win32.KeyLogger.w
    Date Detected: 01 Mar 2007 12:22:00 +0300
    Date Modified: 01 Mar 2007 16:20:04 +0300

First, I don't understand the "not-a-virus" part. If SupremeSpy and KeyLogger aren't viruses (which seems unlikely), why are they listed?

Second, How could the Date Detected in both instances be earlier than the ZA install date?

On my Vista Home Premium system, I'm running:
    ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:7.1.078.000
    TrueVector version:7.1.078.000
    Driver version:7.1.078.000
    Anti-virus engine version:3
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version:20071224052000
    Anti-spyware engine version:5.0.189.0
    Anti-spyware signature DAT file version:01.200712.3055
    AntiSpam version:5.0.0.8843

    Operating System:Windows Vista Home Premium
    Software Version:7.1 (Vista)
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

ZoneAlarm Security Suite and ZoneAlarm Anti-Virus now use Kaspersky Anti-Virus Engine.."...Antivirus solutions from Kaspersky Lab not only detect malicious software, but other programs which are potentially harmful, such as:<UL><LI>Adware <LI>Remote administration programs <LI>Utilities which can be used by malicious programs or users ....."</LI>[/list]

Ok, got it: not-a-virus, at least in this case, means it's spyware.

But I still don't understand why the Date Detected is earlier than the date I installed ZoneAlarm. And what's the difference between &quot;Date Detected&quot; and &quot;Date Modified&quot;? Modified by who/what?
