Problems running Update due to corrupted file ("Task has encountered an error&quot

    1) Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\ZoneLabs\Updates

    2) Delete all files

    3) Re-run Update

Well I would love to say that worked.. Sigh but didn't
Besides not working there were issues with deleting the files..to a person who is stuck with the NiceTryFileSystem. There would be no way for them to delet the files cuz when trying to delet files it says access denied file in use.. Only thur a DOS system could I get to delete the files..
Got any other ideas on how to fix this probelm??

Reboot into Safe Mode (hold F8 during boot process until Boot Menu appears and choose top line (Safe Mode)) and do the procedure.

Try to do a database reset:
    1) Ctrl + Shft right-click (ZA System Tray icon)

    2) Click Reset in popup box

    3) Click Yes in Reset Settings dialog box

    4) Click OK when prompted to reboot

    5) Follow onscreen prompts

If that doesn't work, I would suggest a clean uninstall followed by a reinstall. The lines that you will copy and paste into ZADelete.bat are for Windows XP but since both it and Win2K are based on Windows NT, they should work. Nevertheless, check the directories to make sure they're the same before running the .bat file. If Win2K allows a System Restore checkpoint to be made, I would suggest doing it first. I'm assuming it also has a Safe Mode that you can boot into. If not, uncheck "Load ZASS at startup", reboot, and do the uninstall. Then reboot and do the install. Follow these steps:

Download ZASS version 462 (or 470 which I suggest) from here:http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html
    UNINSTALL
    --------------
Append " /clean /rmlicense" (without quotes) to ZoneAlarm uninstall shortcut target
    Reboot Safe Mode (without networking)
    Uninstall ZoneAlarm from shortcut
Reboot Safe Mode (without networking): reboot requested by ZoneAlarm
Create file ZADelete.bat and edit with Notepad
Copy and paste the following lines into ZADelete.bat, then save and exit:
    RMDIR /S /Q "%PROGRAMFILES%\Zone Labs"
    RMDIR /S /Q "%SYSTEMROOT%\Internet Logs"
    RMDIR /S /Q "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\ZoneLabs"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%TEMP%\*"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\Temp\*"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\Prefetch\*"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsconfig.xml"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsdata.dll"

    ECHO Y | DEL /F /AH "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\z?lictbl.dat"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\zpeng24.dll"
    Double-click ZADelete.bat
Create file ZADelete.reg and edit with Notepad
Copy and paste the following lines into ZADelete.reg, then save and exit:
    REGEDIT4
    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZAMailSafe]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zone Labs]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Zone Labs]
    [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Zone Labs]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\vsmon]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\vsdatant]
    Double-click ZADelete.reg
    Empty Recycle Bin

    INSTALL (SAFE MODE BOOT)
    -----------------------------------
    Install ZoneAlarm
Reboot Normal Mode: reboot requested by ZoneAlarm
Anti-virus / Anti-spyware > Update Now (repeat until no further updates)

Thanks for the info, had considered a reset But really didn't want to since it would reset EVERYTHING..hated the idea of starting from scratch.. But if I had to OH well..Then tonight I got a **bleep** action from ZASS sure enuff the **bleep**er worked and updated everything just fine..Whew No reset..:-) I guess the program must have seen our writing and didn;t want to get it's butt slapped..
I will keep this info handy if the little bad boy acts up again.. Just in case..
    Thanks for your help..

    Hi
I've a similar situation, and its still not solved yet, i've tried everything but let me be honest to you,now seems to realise that this ZA security suite
which just won a"cnet five star award for the month of april" isnt what we expect it to be just a working independent security suite..or probably is not what its created for..I do have a few logical question, firstly,
is why it seems so complicated just to uninstall this software?Secondly, it seems that the antivirus database is easily corrupted? Totally opposite on KAS antivirus ~Thirdy, we need to search all around just to find a simple
answer, isnt that weird for such a reputation?Fourth, isnt that reasonable to have a webupdate? Other security competitors
they dont have such an issue.
These are some of the problems/issues that i encountered in using ZASS. It seems a small issue to meif you plan to have a bigger role on this industry.
