Default ZA Anti-Virus Fails to Update

ZA Anti-Virus (as a part of ZA Internet Security Suite V. 7.0.470.000) will not update and returns an error message.
    The anti-spyware side updates OK.
I've tried a complete uninstall and reinstall with same results.
    Any suggestions?
I'm new to the forum -- my apologies if this has been addressed earlier.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

Try the following, then post back with your results and the exact error message.

Problems running Update due to corrupted file
("Task has encountered an error", "Cannot parse XML file&quot

    1) Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\ZoneLabs\Updates

    2) Delete all files

    3) Re-run Update

    Thanks for the help.
    I opened
I was able to delete a Spyware Update folder (there was no antivirus folder - should there be?), but there is a file called "LocalCatalog" that I was not able to delete.
I get the message that says:
"Cannot delete LocalCatalog: Access is denied.
Make sure disk is not full or write-protected . . ."
I tried shutting down ZA completely and trying to delete LocalCatalog -
    no good that way either.
Sorry to be so technically illiterate.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

Boot into Safe Mode and delete the file(s). To boot into Safe Mode, restart your computer and press F8 until you get the Mode screen, then select the top item: Safe Mode. You should be OK to delete the files
then. You might need to be logged on under an Administrative account which you probably are. Post your results back here.
