Default Slow ZA Antivirus & Antispyware

I'm a new user but I do have the latest version for XP, 7.0470.
The Antivirus took 2 hours, 57 minutes, and 35 seconds.
This is just crazy slow.
What steps do I need to take to speed this up?
I have the scan settings on priority and its only scanning one drive (80 gig).

Should I uncheck any of these options to speed things up: 1) "scan boot sectors" 2) "scan system memory" 3) Enable Extended Database (not even sure what this is)? Thanks.

Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
Software Version:7.0
Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

cornsack,
The Kaspersky av engine is slow.
What I do is set the scans to run in the off hours - you access this though the antivirus/anti-spyware tab > advanced options > scan schedule.
I run a scan monthly at night when no one will be using any of the computers and in the morning you've got your scan results.
Works for me and lets the computers do nothing but scan and not be diverting resources trying to use the web, work on documents, or other computer work.
Hope this helps you
Regards,Findley
