    Default ScanningProcess.exe

Using Security Suite 7.0.470.000 updated regularly.

Lately I've getting "Suspicious Behavior" alerts that read as follows:

    C:WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\avsys\
    ScanningProcess.exe
    (ScanningProcess.exe) event=0
    subevent=0 class=1("system","","&quo t or similar, all related to ScanningProcess.exe

ZA scans 1 or 2 files and alert comes on stopping scanning

I've tick the Allow tens of times but it keeps coming on.

    Can someone help>

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

Hi!To repair this problem, please follow the steps below. Please note that this will remove your program permission settings (so you may want to make
note of them), but re-establishing them is a simple process.1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootCheers,Fax

I have the same problem. I've reset ZA a number of times and the problem seems to disappear for a while. However, as soon as Program Control is set to maximum (and not Auto Learn) the problem comes back.

    Hi!
If you keep getting your ZASS corrupted than something else is happening on your system.
Probably better to completely clean your PC (reinstall OS, updates, etc).

    ZA settings get corrupted if:

    - your system hangs/crash
    - Cold shutdown (improper shutdown) or you use utility to speed up shutdown (these often breaks ZA)
    - You are infected by malware
    - Incompatible software is running on your system (typically security tools like other antispyware, antivirus, firewall, registry tools, etc...)

If you have valid license better to contact ZA technical support at: www.zonealarm.com/tsform

To really understand if there is any third party software causing conflicts you should try to run your system (for a while) only with ZA and standard MS services and see if you still have problems.

    This way:
    1.) Click Start -> Run
2.) Type MSConfig in the run box and click OK
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
    Monitor, and click OK.
    8.) Restart your computer

NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
    General tab.

    Cheers,
    Fax
P.S. Do NOT restore any previous backup of ZA settings. They may be the origin of the problem. Keep ZA at default.

I also have the same problem on 2 machines (un-related). One is an old P3-800MHz machine that the above error keep popping every time an anti-virus scan starts. This is a home machine. And ZA Suite was installed just fresh (no more than 2 weeks or so)

The other is a laptop that the co. gave it to me. It happens when I try to install WP X3

    Hi!
please open a new thread with as much as details as possible of your problems and exactly the steps you performed to resolve the issue.

Also detail your system, network card, other security related tools installed (antivirus, antispyware, HIPS, registry tools, defrag, backup, etc..).

    Cheers,

Thank you for your help in advance. I have read many of the threads regarding performance issues with scanningprocess.exe and I am confused as ever.
I have MS XP and have ZA vs. 7.0.483.000.
scanningprocess.exe is using up my CPU and makes my computer literally unusable.
I have tried many of the things listed such as: doing a clean install, I manually ran ZA virus and spyware, etc. I have not reloaded my OS or things like that.
I am not a "technical" guy so could someone direct me how to either stop scanningprocess.exe or what I can do to reduce the CPU usage.
    Thanks again.
