I run 7.0.483.000
under Windows XP Media Center on a Sony VAIO desktop.
In the Documents and Settings folder are two folders, normally hidden, visible in general
after turning off "Hide protected operating system files"in "Folder Options", and always visible (1) in a Command Promptwindow or (2) in Zone Alarm's Advanced Options in the Scan Targetswindow.
One of these folders is LocalService (one word, no space).
In localservice\local settings\temporary internet files\content IE5
are four folders, each with an 8-character alphameric name
with no discernible meaning.
Each of the four folders contains395 to 400 .zip files with names of the two forms
vet.signatures.patch-nnnnnwhere "nnnn" or "nnnnn" is a 4 or 5-digit number, with "modified"dates from April 2006 to June 2008.
Are these leftovers from ZoneAlarm activity, specifically fromvirus and spyware database updates?
And if so, can they besafely deleted?
