    Default Scan Process Slowing Computer

    I recently installed the new ZASS v8.
    Since that time I find that a process called ScanningProcess somtimes starts running on its own and brings my XP Pro to its knees.

    This scan runs separately from the regular Virus and Spyware scan,
    although
    they use the very same process.
    Is there a reason for this?
    Is there a setting whereby I can stop this random extreme slowdown from happenting?
    Is this a part of the new update that cannot be changed?

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    It's recommended that you uninstall version 8 and go back to version 7.0.483.0 until the problems are fixed. I and many others had the same problems you're experiencing and have gone back to version 7. Make sure you do a clean uninstall of version 8 to remove all traces.
    You can download version 7.0.483.0 from here:http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...483_000_en.exe
    Do the following:
    1) Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking (repeatedly press F8 as computer restarts)

    2) Allow ZoneAlarm to do a clean uninstall:

    Start > All Programs > ZoneAlarm, right-click Uninstall, select Properties;

    Add " /clean" (without quotes: <space>/clean) to the end of the Target field;

    After adding " /clean", the Target field will look like this:

    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean

    3) Uninstall ZoneAlarm:

    Start > All Programs > ZoneAlarm > Uninstall;

    when ZoneAlarm requests a reboot, reboot into Safe Mode with Networking

    4) http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...message.id=103

    (begin after the 2nd *REBOOT in the webpage)

    5) Install ZoneAlarm (in Safe Mode with Networking);

    when ZoneAlarm requests a reboot, reboot into Normal Mode

    6) Anti-virus / Anti-spyware > Main > Update Now
