    Default Outlook starting itself

    I am using ZASS 8.0.020, Windows XP SP3, Outlook 2003 SP3.
Since upgrading to 8.0 I have activated Spam filtering which I wasn't using before. I was using Cloudmark and am still doing so. Since the upgrade, Outlook has started up by itself and checks mail in the background. I don't want it to do this. Advice please.
    Thanks.

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    Hi!
probably you mean that Outlook does not close even if you have closed it?

Open the Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-Delete) --> Processes --> Select outlook.exe and shut it down.

No it does close. If I check Task manager there is no OUTLOOK.EXE process running. Then, 10 minutes later, there's an icon in the system tray and it is receiving mail. I have not timed the gap between closing it down and it starting up again. There is a setting in Outlook to tell it to check mail in the background, I've discovered. But this was off before and it is still off.

    Hi!
Outlook cannot run in the background if outlook.exe is not in the Task Manager.
Please check again... only when you see this background 'outlook' checking.

Otherwise there is something else checking e-mails sort of 'off-line'.
