Default "On Access-Scanning" causes scan to stall?

I have been able to run a Deep Scan and Normal Scan IF I uncheck "On Access Scanning"
If "On Access Scanning" is checked I have not been able to run any scan.

When I try to run a virus scan it locks up (stops) after it scans about 1400 files.
It is not always the same file it stops at, but it is always located in windows\system32 directory.

My system and Other programs I am running:

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
    3.00 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
    16 kilobyte primary memory cache
    1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5GDC Rev 1.xx
    Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 1005.002 09/26/2004

ZoneAlarm Security Suite Antivirus Version 8.059.000
    Acronis True Image Version 9,0,0,2259
BillP Studios - WinPatrol Explorer Version 15.5.2008.0
    X1 Technologies, Inc. - X1 Version 3162
    Hagel Technologies DU Meter 4.01

Any help you can provide will be appreciated

    Hi!

as discussed earlier, if you are able to perform a scan in SAFE MODE, something in normal mode is blocking ZA to work as it should.

Have you tried to boot only with ZA?
    1.) Click Start -> Run
2.) Type MSConfig in the run box and click OK
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
    Monitor, and click OK.
    8.) Restart your computer

    How does it work?

NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
    General tab.

I finally found the problem. It appears Acronis TrueImageMonitor.exe is the problem. With it unchecked I was able to run an "ultra deep scan"

It appears TrueImageMonitor conflicts with OnAccess-Scanning.

Default "On Access-Scanning" causes scan to stall --> "True Image Monitor" Conflict

Hi!try to exclude the 'TrueImageMonitor' from the 'on access' scanning under the "Advanced options" of the ZA antivirus/antipsyware tab (Virus Management --> Exception --> Add file)Cheers,Fax

EDIT: I think the above will not avoid the problem.. probably you should also exclude the scanning of True image folders in the advanced options of the antivirus/antispyware tab (scan targets)

Excluding the Acronis folder did not help.
Since I only need the Acronis program when I am doing a back up, I will block the program from running constantly. Doing this everything works fine.

    Thank you for your help.
