Default ZA antivirus causes my C drive to freeze

ZoneAlarm antivirus causes my C drive to freeze.
When I open up folders in C drive especially system volume information folder, they just freeze for 10 seconds.
However, when I disable ZoneAlarm, this problem disappears.
How can I solve this problem?

Hi!first I would try to boot your system only with ZA and standard OS services/programs:1.) Click Start -> Run
2.) Type MSConfig in the run box and click OK
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
    Monitor, and click OK.
8.) Restart your computerHow does it work?
NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
    General tab.
It should not freeze your system while opening folders. AV engine can cause some delays if you right click the folder and the folder contains files larger than 100-200MB. System Volume (restore points) should be hidden to you and should not be accessible. Was this a problem since install? Or you have installed anything meanwhile? Like other security tool?Do you like to customise your programs to have different access level and permissionsfrom the default ones? May be some of the system files need a better tuning or need to be set to the default? Just listing the most common issues that can cause denied access on the system.Hope this helpsCheers,Fax
