Default Can't update virus signatures since installation of Security Suite 8.0.298.000

A manual update of signature files has been giving me an "!Anti-Virus Error: Unable to connect error", since I went to above referenced version. I'm not having any problem connecting to any other site. My DAT file version is 915051681, which I can see is out of date. I have Anti-Spyware set off because I use another spyware program which, by the way, I updated without problem this morning.

I have the latest security update to Zonealarm Internet SecuritySuite you are referring to.
I'm not having any problems getting anti-virus updates, Maybewhat you could do is uninstall the software and reinstall it andsee if that works.
Another possiblity could be there might be a virus in the systempreventing you from doing what you need to do.
If all that doesn't work I would contect tech support on this strangeissue.

I am having the same exact problem; spent the better part of a day troubleshooting it to no avail. Contacted
tech to see what they say, still waiting for reply.
Tried everything! Remove-reinstall, clean install, complete manual
removal, scanned with Windows Live, CCleaner, Kaspersky, Trendmicro, no virus or spyware found.
XP Pro, SP3, networked.Other computers are fine, running same setup

Try updating in safe mode with networking; I got my VS to update that way. Seems to work fine in normal mode now as well.
Fired it off to tech support to see what the issue is; awaiting reply.
I will post as I receive more info on how to address this extremely frustrating and important issue.
Cheers!

Running ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite, just updated to the "new" version, Anti-Virus update no longer functionsRecieving
Anti-virus Error: Unable to connect. However, the Anti-spyware has no issues.
System confirmed clean,
Ultra Deep Virus scan and Deep-inspection for Spyware, no infections found.
OS is XP Pro, SP2
Waiting for support response...

Please note that ZASS does not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled). To troubleshoot ZASS issues remove them and install back once you see that ZA works as it should. For example,Norton/Symantec, McAfee,Spyspweeper, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotS&D, PC tools Threatfire, otherantivirus, antispyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc

to the Zone Alarm User Forum..It sounds like your ZA Database may be corrupted.

ZA has incorparated a new way to Reset DataBase files so users don't need to go into Safe mode.

To repair this problem, please follow the steps below. Please note that
this will remove your program permission settings (so you may want to make
note of them), but re-establishing them is a simple process.

1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together then

2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock in the system tray lower right corner
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

Great News, Issue resolved!!!The uninstall with full clean-up and clean install did not work.
The tech support guide to resolving the "proxy" issues did work.
Below are the abrieviated steps followed from Support that resolved the errors with virus signature files (both the "task encountered an error" and "Unable to connect error&quot
- Click Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options
- Click Security Tab and Highlight 'Trusted sites' and click the Sites button.
- Add kav.zonelabs.com and upd.zonelabs.com
1) Go to Start --> Control Panel (or Start --> Settings --> Control Panel).
2) Double click Internet Options.
3) Click the Connections tab on the top.
4) Click the LAN settings button near the bottom.
5) Uncheck the 'Use a proxy server for your LAN' option if it is checked.
6) Place a check in 'Automatically detect settings'.
7) Click OK, then OK again on the Internet Properties screen.
8) Restart your system to ensure that the changes take effect.

Go to Start --> Run. Type in Regedit.
Press OK.Now Find = HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings. Now look for "ProxyEnable", "Enablehttp1_1" and "proxyHttp1.1"The value for these three keys should be set to 0 not 1.Right click on each key if it is set to 1 and change it to 0.
Restart your system to ensure that the changes take effect.

Hi, there,

I had the same problem. After uninstalling and then installing the new version it works, has all connections. The proxy settings as written before. But setting in Regedit was not needed.
Try it, and good luck
