Default New ZoneAlarm installation on updated Toshiba computer

I recently purchased and installed ZoneAlarm AntiVirus on an older Toshiba laptop which we doubled the original RAM to 0.5GB and more than tripled the hard drive to 80GB with a much faster operating speed. Before and since, ZoneAlarm seems to have a mind of it's own. It resets preferences, shuts down the antivirus scan and acts like the wireless network on the computer is new every time it boots up. We have identified the network, which is constant, over and over again to no avail. I thought the new hard drive with is faster operating speed would resolve the problem, but it hasn't. I would like for a tech support person to talk with me while I'm on the computer to see if this can be resolved. If not, I will want my money back and I will switch this computer to another antivirus software. My other laptop uses ZoneAlarm with no problems. It has wireless capabilities, but I rarely use them. Please advise ASAP.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Antivirus

After the reset, make sure the ZA is configured properly:
Make sure your DNS and DHCP server IP's are in your Firewall's Trusted zone. Finding DNS and DCHP servers, etc

    1. Go to Run and type in command and hit 'ok', and in the command then type in ipconfig /all then press the enter key. In the returned data list will be a line DNS and DHCP Servers with the IP address(s) listed out to the side. Make sure there is a space between the ipconfig and the /all, and the font is the same (no capitals).
    2. In ZA on your machine on the Firewall, open the Zones tab, click Add and then select IP Address. Make sure the Zone is set to Trusted. Add the DNS IP(s) .
    3. Click OK and Apply. Then do the same for the DHCP server.
    4. The localhost (127.0.0.1) must be listed as Trusted.
    5. The Generic Host Process (svchost.exe) as seen in the Zone Alarm's Program's list must have server rights for the Trusted Zone.
Plus it must have both Trusted and Internet Access.

Extra help is found at Guru Hoov site for the DNS/DHCP.

And for toshibas laptops, often the toshiba Config Free program can cause issues with software firewalls.

Default ZoneAlarm-True Vector Internet Monitor has shut down

After resetting ZoneAlarm as suggested on this revamped Toshiba laptop, it occasionally throws up the message in the subject line and asks it you want to restart it. After clicking yes, it changes the ZoneAlarm settings! HELP!
