I got a similar message after uninstalling McAffee and installing my ZASS on Vista Premium. The Windows secury Center tells me that it was not able to detect an AV protection. ZA is, of course, running. When trying to solve the problem I foudn that ZA is not on the list of AV programs on the MS site : http://www.microsoft.com/uk/athome/s...wsvistaAV.mspx

Does Vista not cooperate with ZA ? Or does it not see it ? What's happening ?
Do I have to use AVG and can't use my AV for which I paid 2 years in advance ???

Hi!works perfectly fine here on VISTA, that list has nothing to do with compatible VISTA AVs otherwise you will junk hundreds of other security tools on the market. Please note that ZA does not play nice with many other security tools. They may block its correct functioning including updates. For example, spyware doctor, spysweeper, trojan hunter, win patrol, PCtools Threat Fire, Mcafee, Norton, Symantec, Adaware, SpybotS&D, WinPatrol, AVG, NOD, Kaspersky and manyothers. If you want to troubleshoot issues with ZA please remove these tools (not enough to disable) and install back (if you really need) only after you see your ZASS is working as it should. It is possible that Mcafee has corrupted your Windows Security Center (WSC). Try to run a reset tool:http://my.opera.com/rejzor/blog/secu...t-1-0-releasedAlso note that the report of WSC does not mean your ZA is not working.May be time to have a nice refresh of your system? It seems you are having fartoo many problems recently.Hope this helps.Cheers,Fax-----------------If you will have still problems... try to have a nice deep cleaning and reinstall, this way:Remove ZA from add/remove programs then:01.) Fax,
I am impressed. I think I work through the list next Monday and use my week-end for accumulating the necessary energy .

BTW This happens with a brand-new Dell XPS M1530 after the McAffee trial expired and I wanted to install my ZA which I am accustomed to use with XP on my other computers.
When marketing people tell me that PCs are a productivity tool I can not laugh.

    Thanks for your activity list

    Cheers
    Frank

I tried to uninstall ZA but I got the following error message :
True vector internet monitor was not uninstalled.
Other programs are using the True Vector Internet.
Make sure that all other programs using the True Vector have been closed.

Very intelligent to conceive such cryptic messages - I hope the developers read this forum -: How could a standard user guess which programs might use the True Vector Engine ??

So I stopped numerous programs through the task manager but this didn't help.

Then I executed vsmon.exe and restarted

Then I reset the Windows security center as indicated and restarted.
Windows Security Center still shows that the AV protection is not found.

What surprises me is that ZA is not listed in the Start - All programs list, although it is installed as I find it in the program files folder and in the list of files in the Add/Remove entries.

When I start ZA on double-clicking on zonealarm.exe Windows Security Center still shows that the AV protection is not found.

Windows security center gets screwed up by its own self.
Here's a fix, it'll likely work, it did for me:
    http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...ssage.id=18598

Or - who cares what Windows security center thinks so long as YOU know TrueVector, ZoneAlarm and AV is running.

    Hi,
I did everything besides the malware testing (no.30) but got stuck in the middle of the road: currently I am able to access my emails but not the web. So I can't download the full ZA, only the installer. I tried to work around the obstacle in downloading it to my xp engine - which I use for writing this mail - and then copy the prog to the Vista engine but discovered that ZA only lets you download an installer, not the prog. So you can't install from an USB stick as you need an internet link (which doesn't work no my vista pc).
So, I don't see why the email works but not the web link. Any ideas ?

    Thanks for your help,
    Frank
