    Default Kaspersky Lab AV

I just updated ZA Security Suite to 8.0.298.000 Now I see in my Processes list under vsmon.exe- True Vector Service- 2 Kaspersky Lab AV Scanners running! My pagefile has increased by 300 MBs!!

I cannot turn off Kaspersky Lab or vsmon.exe.

What does Kaspersky Lab AV has to do with Zone Alarm Security Suite?

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

Hi!Kasperky is providing the malware on access enginein ZASS. Nothing abnormal, kaspersky has been present in ZA since version 7 (since two years ago?). Abnormal is the RAM consumption, that could be related to a bad install, corrupted settings, running conflicting programs, running an antivirus scan, infected by malware.Usually when idle scanningprocess.exe should consume not more than 600kb each.Cheers,Fax

This is the first time that I have seen Kaspersky AV in "Process Explorer" that I have been running since Dec. 08 (Maybe the vsmon.exe process folder was closed or "minimized" all this time.

    Anyway,I looked at vsmon.exe3868 (properties/performance/private bytes) is 37.9 MB
Scanningprocess.exe2308 Kaspersky AV Scanner is 110.8 MB
Scanningprocess.exe3864 Kaspersky AV Scanner is also 110.8 MB.

Hi!open task manager, wait 3-4 minutes.... processes should consume not more than 600kIf it is not so then they are active. They are active if you are scanning your HD, they are active because writing/reading is happening on your HD, you have a software conflict (usually other security tool) and finally you are infected by malware.First try to reset the ZA setting, they may be corrupted:1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootThen boot your system only with ZA and standard OS program/services:1.) Click Start -> Run
2.) Type MSConfig in the run box and click OK
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
    Monitor, and click OK.
8.) Restart your computerHow does it work?
NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
    General tab.

    Thanks.
So far, I did steps 1-6.
I got an error message: Error starting Direct OCR-what does that mean?
So Far, Pagefile back down to 382 MB. Process Explorer does Not show Kaspersky AV just vsmon.exe at 34 MB. Firewall on, antiSpyware on, AntiVirus currently off.
