    Default MSVCP60.DLL causing virus scan to lockup

    DELL Dimension 2400 with ; 2gig of RAM ; Intel P4 2.8Ghz CPU ; Windows XP Pro SP3 ; Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite v8.0.298.000

    I had a virus or trojan issue on this desktop and as far as Zone Alarm and True Sword 5 are concerned there are no trojans or adware or spyware on this machine. I upgraded to the current version of ZA yesterday and left the AV scanner to scan the machine. When I came down this morning, the ZA AV scanner had only scanned 46 files and locked up 45 minutes into the scan. I experienced this same problem yesterday and upgraded ZA thinking this would fix the problem. After doing a hard shutdown and rebooting the machine I tried the AV scan again and as soon as it hit this program in C:\windows\system32\MSVCP60.DLL, the scan stopped scanning and the machine locked up. I have replaced the dll from a CAB file and this did not help.
    I also put this file and path in the exception list of not to scan but the software still scans.

    Any ideas????

    Hi!usually this is due to ZA settings corruption, conflicts with other security tools (and ZASS does not play nice with most of them) or still virus infections.A. For corrupted settings, reset them:1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
    2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
    3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
    4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
    5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
    6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootB. For conflicts with other security tools, run the scan in SAFE MODE with NETWORKING. It if completes than there is another software blocking the scanning. Running multiple security tools means software fighting for resouces and blocking each other, especially when its time for cleaning an infectionC. Still malware infections.
