Default ZAX virus definitions won't update

Haven't been able to get the update for 3 days now it just says updates were not installed but the anti-spyware updates fine every time.
Should I reset ZAX or could there be another problem?

    Operating System:Windows Vista 64 bit
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Extreme Security

Well 4 days now can't update. Tried resetting, no good. Not going to re-install. If it can't download the update today I'm probably switching to some other stuff I been reading about. No big deal but I have to have things working correctly on my computer is all.

I am having the same problem with getting my anti-virus updates. I am a paid subscriber and I just installed ZAIS 8 on a fresh install of WINXP home with SP3.
Don't know what gives? I am very frustrated. If there is something wrong on ZoneAlaarm's end, I wish they would let us know. No sense in pulling our hair out for nothing.

Hi!see here:http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en...al-support.htmApparently extreme weather conditions are delaying the response.Meanwhile you can have a look to this specific instruction for issue related to updates problems:http://www.zonealarm.com.au/main/kb_...asp?KBID=11433....and if it fails you can try the complete removal, check and clean of your system and ZAX as detailed below:First remove ZA from Start --> Control Panel --> Programs --> 'Unistall a program' (if there) then:01.) Restart your computer
02.) When you see the screen go black and it starts booting back up keep
tapping the "F8" key (at the top of your keyboard)
03.) This should bring up a menu. Choose Safe Mode off the menu by
using the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Safe Mode and press
    Enter
04.) If you get a message asking to go to Safe Mode, choose Yes. If you
get a help and support window, close this.
05.) Once you are at the desktop, Click Start, Computer
06.) Click Tools, Folder Options, View TabNOTE: If you cannot see the menu bar with the Tools menu on it, you have
to press the Alt-key on the keyboard and the menu bar should then be
visible. 07.) Place a dot next to "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
08.) Remove the check from "Hide Protected Operating System Files
    (Recommended)"
09.) Choose Yes to the warning
    10.) Click OK
11.) Double click C:Note: In the future steps if you do not see any files or folders, please click
the "Show Files" link to view them.12.) Double Click the Program Files Folder
13.) Right Click the Zone Labs Folder, click Delete, and choose YesNOTE: If you cannot delete the entire folder, please open the Zone Labs -
    > ZoneAlarm folder and delete out as many of the files listed here as
    possible.14.) Close this window
    15.) Click Start, Computer
    16.) Double Click C:
17.) Double Click the Windows Folder
18.) Right Click the Internet Logs Folder, click Delete, and choose Yes
19.) Double Click the System32 Folder
20.) Right Click the Zone Labs Folder, click Delete, and choose YesNOTE: If you cannot delete the entire folder, please open the Zone Labs
folder and delete out as many of the files listed here as possible.22.) Close this window
    23.) Click Start, Computer
    24.) Double Click C:
25.) Double Click the Program Files Folder26.) Double Click the Checkpoint Folder27.) Right click onZAForceField folder, click Delete, and choose Yes28.) Locate and delete the following files in the System32 folder if they are present:- vsconfig.xml
    - vsxml.dll
    - vsregexp.dll
    - vsdata.dll
    - vsdata95.vxd
    - vsdatant.sys
    - vsmonapi.dll
    - vspubapi.dll
    - vsinit.dll
    - vsutil.dll
    - vswmi.dll
    - zlcommdb.dll
    - zlcomm.dll
    - zpeng24.dll
29.) Clear your Temp Directory per the instructions below.- Go to Start -> In the search box
    - Type %temp% and press enter
    - Select all of these files and delete them30.) Clear the Prefetch folder per the instructions below.- Go to Start -> In the search box- Type Prefetch and press enter
    - Select all of these files and delete them31.) Check the system for malware. Check with MBAM and SuperAntispyware. See links here: http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...essage.id=378732.) ZA does not play nice with many other security tools. They may block its correct functioning including updates. For example, spyware doctor, spysweeper, trojan hunter, win patrol, PCtools Threat Fire, Mcafee, Norton, Symantec, Adaware, SpybotS&D, WinPatrol, AVG, NOD, Kaspersky and manyothers. If you want to troubleshoot issues with ZA please remove these tools (not enough to disable) and install back (if you really need) only after you see your ZASS is working as it should.33. Clean your system and registry with ccleaner.comhttp://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds/downloadbinslim34. Use the latest Downladerfrom here:http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...SPSetup_en.exe35. Install ZAX with default settings do NOT alter them. After re-boot go to ZA antivirus/antispyware and 'Update Now' and do not restore any previous ZA settings.Cheers,Fax

If I can't get my anti-virus updates tomorrow after 6 days, I will be uninstalling ZAIS and will be requesting a full refund. This had been a major time waster for me. Until 6 days a go, I had no complaints what so ever with ZAIS.

Default FIXED?? Anti-Virus Update Failed - The task encountered an error

    Anti-virus: Encountered an error.
Re. ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 8.0.298.000

This is what I did after many many attempts to download the anti-virus updates for WINXP PRO SP3.

    1.) Run ZA_CLEAN.EXE
    2.) Reboot
    3.) Reboot in safemode

4.) Delete the following registry keys
(Easier way is to copy all below in to notepad and save the file as ZADelete.reg then double click on it to import into registry, hit ok))

    REGEDIT4
    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZAMailSafe]
    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Zone.ClientM]
    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Zone.ClientM.1]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zone Labs]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Zone Labs]
    [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Zone Labs]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\vsmon]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\vsdatant]

    5.)
Copy all below in to notepad and save the file as ZADelete.bat then double click on it to delete the left over files if any)

    RMDIR /S /Q "%PROGRAMFILES%\Zone Labs"
    RMDIR /S /Q "%SYSTEMROOT%\Internet Logs"
    RMDIR /S /Q "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\ZoneLabs"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%TEMP%\*"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\Temp\*"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\Prefetch\*"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsconfig.xml"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsdata.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsdata95.vxd"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsdatant.sys"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsinit.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsmonapi.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vspubapi.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsregexp.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsutil.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vswmi.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\vsxml.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\zlcomm.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\zlcommdb.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F /AH "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\z?lictbl.dat"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\zpeng24.dll"
    ECHO Y | DEL /F "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\zpeng25.dll"

    6.) Reboot normally

7.) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware ( http://www.filehippo.com/download_ma..._anti_malware/ ) and install with updates and run scan.
8.) Download SUPERAntiSpyware ( http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html ) and install with updates and run scan.

9.) Reboot normally and download newest ZAIS and install, reboot ... now check for updates.

    WILLIAM
