Thread: New version 8.0.298.035?

  1. #1

    Default New version 8.0.298.035?

I am receiving notification the a new version of ZAISS is available to help protect against the Conficker worm.

No such version is on the release history page.

Since this is 04/01/2009, i am wondering, "Is this legitimate?"

    Thanks.

EDIT: I stand corrected from my initial comment below.B-)
It is a new minor release and I've installed it on one of my two PCs with no problem.
Is the notification in an email or some sort of popup window/balloon?
    Sounds fishy to me.
I have ZASS installed on 2 PCs and received no such notification.
My installed version is still 8.0.298.000

Well, son of a gun, there it is.
I have it set to automatically check for program updates... wonder why I didn't get a notice on either PC?!?
I have it downloaded now, will install shortly.
    Thanks.

I usually do a clean install of new versions, but this time I decided to try the "upgrade" route.
Seems to have worked fine on my laptop.
All I had to do after install was a manual update of the AV & AS definition files which completed without problem.
I'll do my desktop in a little bit.

Hi!indeed.... no need to clean install new versions... upgrade works wellIf you really want to be sure of the upgrade you can shutdown your current ZA before upgrading.Cheers,Fax

Yup, that's exactly what I did - physically unplug the internet cable (just to be safe) and shut down ZASS before running the upgrade.
When it completed the install and during reboot, I plugged the internet cable back in.
I've done clean installs in the past because of "other" problems where I had to follow the steps from tech support to completely rip out the previous version.
I know its not necessary in most cases, but it seems I've become one of those exceptions from time to time.
