Default I got an email to down load the update zaAvSetup_80_298_035_en

But when I restarted it z in my tray kept saying the UI was initializing and never did
I turned it off and on restart I have now

    ZoneAlarm Anti-virus version:8.0.298.035
    TrueVector version:8.0.298.035
    Driver version:8.0.298.035
    Anti-virus engine version:6.0.2.678
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version:915051681

But my registration was gone and on the overview page it had a red plus for antivirus
that the antivirusupdate was turned off.
with a fix it button that did nothing.

Now anti virus update does not work either and right click to scan files and folder is gone.

I am concerned this was not a legitimate update

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Antivirus

same thing happened to me exactly!!!!

but i immediately went into safe mode and uninstalled ZA
    and installedthe previous version.

    80.298.000
when i restarted the pc after the upgrade... i got a windows error message saying
    vsmon crashed....

and then the same prob about never initializing.
I went to the release history page for security suite... and i don't see the new version listed... is this some april fools virus??!?!?!
    now i'm scared lol.

ok so i took a chance and reinstalled it again... this time it worked fine.
the only thing i did diff was save it to disk this time and double clicked on it... instead of just hitting run when i downloaded it.

    weird.
or maybe it was cause i had the antivirus turned off at the time of the upgrade?
who knows but it works now.
