Default .jpeg infection per ZASS; .jpeg is also on iphone

Today, ZASS ran on it's own and indicated that several of my .jpeg images are infected with "trojan-downloader.BAT.small.e" The images are family photos that have been on my computer over a year. ZA, nor any other program, has previously flagged them during that time and I've never noted any unusual behavior with my computer. I then ran ZA on my external hard drive backups and flash drives that also contain those photos and got the same alerts. All were easily quarantined. I occasionally run Kaspersky, Malwarebytes and Spyweeper and they always come up clean.

    My Qs:

There is not much on this virus out there. Is it brand new? Anyone have experience with it?

Am I getting a false alert?

One of the pictures flagged was also previously loaded onto my iphone. Surprisingly, I cannot find anything about scanning an iphone for viruses, except lots of folks who say you can't infect an iphone or a .jpeg. How do I check my phone to see if it's a problem? Thinking of loading the pics from the phone back onto a flash drive then scanning them with ZASS. Good idea? Anyone know if itunes scans for this kind of thing when the pics are loaded onto the phone? Also, when you plug your iphone into itunes it makes a backup copy. Where is that stored on your computer? If my phone is infected, I assume that backup copy of the .jpegs should alert when I run ZASS but as far as I know, it doesn't.

    Running XP.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
