    Default Illegal Operation

I have recently started getting the following "Illegal Operation" message intermittently on boot-up. "ZLCLIENT caused an invalid page fault in module FRAMEWRK.DLL at 0167:5041ee58."

Any help would be much appreciated

    Operating System:Windows 98-SE (Second Edition)
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)
    Software Version:6.1

Try reinstalling Zone Alarm but first uninstall it this way. Go into the start menu locate the zonelabs entry and right click on the uninstaller and select properties. Now in the target box you must add a space and then /clean to the end so that it looks something like this "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean click apply and then OK. Next open ZA and turn off the load on boot option, then reboot and then run the uninstaller. This should get rid of all of ZoneAlarm. Now go to your windows temp folder and delete everything. Find the folder named Internet logs and delete it then empty your recycle bin. Now install a fresh firewall.

    Your uninstall/clean and re-install procedure seems to have cured my problem. Thank you very much for the help.:8}

I tried the clean uninstall, mass deletion and reinstall, but the fix only lasted two days.
Since then, the framewrk.dll error has repeated at every boot-up.
Further attempts at clean uninstalls and reinstalls have had exactly the same result.

    System stats:

Win98 SE on a (rather elderly) PC with 64Mb RAM

    ZA - latest free version

    Other possible problem areas:

    Norton AV

How long has it been since you installed windows?

My system had to be rebuilt in June 2004 after an operating system crash.
The shop I took it to installed my current version of Windows, so I don't have the disks to reinstall it.
I'll be replacing this machine soon, so this isn't an enormous problem - I was just curious why the framewrk.dll error reappeared so soon after a clean uninstall and reinstall.

I would just let it go. Its been almost 2 years with that copy of windows, you could end up chasing your tail forever. If you are getting a new machine, I would just live with it (as long as ZA is working correctly. )
