Default Antivirus update task not responding

I use Zone Alarm Security suite version 6.1. I was not able to come online for about 2 weeks and when Zone Alarm automatically starts updating antivirus definitions, it stops after a while and gives message "Antivirus update task not responding".The same thing happens when I try to update manually. The Spyware update task also gives error messages.Lastely I'd like to thank SlyFox who had replied to my mail, and his remedy worked but then this happened.

    Operating System:
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
    Software Version:6.1

    Hi striderdagreat,

    I see we meet again.
I might have a solution to your current problem, if not PLEASE post back.

Someone else had the very same problem, here is the solution that worked for them.

I had the same issue (Error: failed to connect) and the fix was a registry edit.

"If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system."

Click on Start, Run... and type regedit. Drill down to:

    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Internet Settings

In the right hand window double-click on ProxyEnable and change the 1 to a 0

Click on OK and exit the Registy Editor. Try running the antivirus update again...

I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it worked for me, thanks to Zone Labs tech support.

Hope this info has helped you.

Thank you for your time and have a nice day!
