This is the alert on am asking about:
ZoneAlarm prevented your computer from accessing port 53 on a DNS server
Attempting to contact a DNS server is usually nothing to worry about. It is not a hostile action. However, it does indicate that an application on your machine was trying to reach an address on the Internet, or possibly, on your Local Area Network.
In my alerts log I keep getting a medium alert UDP Protocol indicating a port on my machine (varies) is trying to access port 53. After reading the info about this alert it leads me to believe something is loading up before Zone Alarm and ZA is stopping this. I guess this is a good thing.
My question: How can I determine which application is doing this. It just says svchhost.
XP pro Sp2. Linksys router wired. No networking or sharing with other computers.
Programs I am aware of that are at startup: Zone Alarm Free 5.5.094.000. BoClean, Winpatrol Plus, Bill P taskcatcher, AVG Free, Spybot TeaTimer, MS Defender (think this one runs at startup too but doesn't show an icon in the systems tray)
All AV, AT spyware scans show clean.
Thanks in advance
