Default Layered Hidden window and MCI command

I've boughtZASS in october last year (2005).Since then, almost evrytime I shut down my computer, I get1 or 2error messages from Windows : Layered Hidden Window and / or MCI command handling. And 1 mroning, starting my laptop,it stops on the "welcome screen" from Windows. I was able to read th hard drive via may other laptop that is on the same network, but that's all.I did not know what to do except reinstall evrything. What I did. Then exactely the same error messages, and one morning, when starting my laptop, the same problem than previously.I reinstall everything, except ZASS. Evrything worked fine. Also I installed ZASS and bang, same story. So last week I resinstall evrything, but know I do not know what to do with ZASS.I sent an email to their support, tokk 10 days to have a very simple answer saying it's Microsoft fault and that I need to talk to their support.Does anybody have any clue, knowing that I'm not a technical guy and that I cannot spend hours to reinstall my laptop every months ?(1 use a laptop with XP Pro SP2)

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
    Software Version:6.0

Hi There. Unfortunately, I have exactly the same problem. Everytime I shutdown my system, I get an end program dialog reading either "Layered Hidden Window" or "MCI Command Handling Window".

I'm almost 100% certain this is caused by ZA, and it began immediately after installing the Oct/05 update of ZA Suite. I'm running XP Home SP2 with all current updates. If there is a Microsoft KB that addresses this, please advise.

I've also noticed that newer version of ZA has significantly impacted my system performance. If anyone has any tuning suggestions - I'd love to hear them.

    Thx

Try lowering the program control to medium and see if it still happens.

What do you have running when you shutdown windows?

All apps are closed, except a few things in the systray: Zone Alarm, HP Digital image monitor, task manager, power manager, winamp.

If this happens everytime, try turning everything but ZA off and see if it happens again.

Same happens to me as well (MCI command handling and layered hidden window) in 95% of shutdown attempts. Nothing in the systray. SP2 and ZASS 6.1.737

As I did not find any solution I gave back my ZA SS and was refunded.

Add me to the list - I also have this problem.

Rebuilt the PC - everything fine until zone alarm went in.

    Undecided about what to do.
