    Default CTHelper Application Alert

I get a CTHelper Application alert each time I start up my computer. I don't know if this is bad, or acceptable, but ZoneAlarm asks if I want to allow it. Is it something I should allow all the time? Thanks

    Hi

Depends. Do you a software installed by you or from the installation disk or original setup called Creative? From Creative Technology Ltd for the PC sound? For some info see:

It would be safe to "Allow" in the ZA, but only if it a safe program as described. I seriously doubt it needs internet access, but could be wrong if there is an updater. Most driver such as these do not need trusted or internet access.

However if this is a false program I would consider the answer that it is malware.

    Take care!

If you have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy audio card installed then it is okay to allow but with no internet/server access. The reason ZA alerts you every time you start your computer is because CTHelper is loading a driver at startup. Try this, click on your start menu, click run and then type in msconfig and check your startup tab, there should be CTHelper.exe listed. I hope this helps.

Furthermore, you don't really need CTHelper to load on startup..
