Is your phone between your wall plate and the computer, or after the computer?

Phone is after the computer, and I have DSL (if this makes a difference). Usually when I press the Talk button on my phone, service comes back on.

Does your computer see the phone as a network device? (sorry to have to ask, I can't get VOIP here, and have never had the pleasure of playing with it).

Go to the firewall section in ZA, then to the Zones tab. Tell me what is listed. Also tell me how your computer is connected to the net? Is there a modem or router? Where does the phone connect? The computer, or a router, or a switch?

Computer is connnected to internet via telephone wire into a BellSouth modem.
This modem is connnected to the VOIP modem which is connected to a typical telophone.
    Thanks

OK, it does look like ZA does see the VOIP modem as a network device, but at the same time there is a direct connection from the VOIP modem to the internet. I don't see as to how ZA could be causing a problem. I have done some reading up on this, and the only thing that Packet8 has that could have a problem from ZA is the softtalk software, but you are using an external modem and phone. How often does this problem show up?
