    Default Repeated security alerts

I use Mailwasher to intercept spam, which
    I usually bounce.
This causes an alert telling me that ccapp.exe is trying to transmit email messages
Additionally, I frequently have alerts warning me that googledesktopcrawl.exe is trying to launch windows\system\32\verclsid.exe to gain access to privileged resources.
I each case, I invariably allow, but find that ticking the Remember This box makes no difference:
the next day, I am asked again!
    Why does it not remember?
And if it's because these actions are dangerous, why am I offered the remember option?

    Thank you for any information!

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro

First I'd like to as if you go to your Zone Alarm Pro Program Control > Programs, look for ccapp.exe , do you have a green check under the 'Send Mail' column?

    Dear Guru Bill,
ccapp.exe is not on the list in ZAP>Program Control>Programs.
    I
    am not
able to add it, as it can't be found on my computer.

Look on your Zone Alarm Programs List for an application called "Symantec User Session" and grant 'Send Mail' to it. That is the name given to ccapp.exe. It used to show up as ccapp.exe but Symantec changed that to confuse us I guess.

It's beginning to feel a bit like a conspiracy - I don't seem to have Symanted User Session either!

You do have Norton Antivirus installed, don't you?

I have Norton antivirus as part of Norton System Works.
There are quite a few items in Programs starting either norton or symantec, but no Symantec User Session.

Then let's take another approach. If you reset your database anything that is corrupt in Zone Alarm causing the repeated alerts should be eliminated. Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

    1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode. {Instructions if needed}
    2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.
    3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.
    4.Reboot into the normal mode.

    Thank you
    Bill.
The original problem is an irritation rather than a difficulty, so I think I will follow your advice, but at some time (soon I hope) when other things seem
    less pressing.
So please - as far as you are concerned - consider this closed.
I'll come back if I still have problems.
