Default Validation Failed for Zlclient.exe

This is my first post here - don't know if this is the right place to
put this, but here goes...

I have two systems on a home LAN, both running ZoneAlarm Internet Security
Suite v7.0.337.000. I have been running Security Suite for some time and
v7 since it first came out. One of my systems is running Win2000 Pro OS
and the other is WinXP Pro - both are kept up-to-date with Microsoft
updates. My Win2000 system is very solid with no problems to date. The
WinXP has been running without problems until about a week ago. I am
starting to get "Validation Failed for Zlclient.exe" at system boot
when ZoneAlarm tries to start - it doesn't happen all the time, it's
inconsistent. When I started having the problem, I uninstalled ZA and
then re-installed - this did not fix the problem. I have scanned the
system for virus' and spyware numerous times without finding anything.
I don't know where to go from here - any commentents/suggestions?

Operating System:Windows XP Pro
Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
Software Version:7.0

Hi!this is waht I found in the ZA knowledge base about validation failed:There are several potential causes for Validation Failed errors.
1.
First, review the instructions here.
If the system date on your computer is incorrect then our software will not recognize the security certificates as legitimate. Please verify your system date.
Validation Failed errors can also occur if a virus has corrupted your system's root security certificates. To reinstall these certificates, open up your Windows Control Panel to Add/Remove Programs, click on Windows Components, and UNcheck the Root Certificates box, then Apply. After they are removed, go back and REcheck that box and Apply, and they should be automatically downloaded and installed.
If you get an invalid page fault in wsock32 or kernel32, click here.
If you get a validation failed message with vsinit.dll, click here.

Thanks for the info Fax -

I printed out the instructions from item 1. and checked everything
listed there, but the problem persists. I have also renewed the
Windows root security certificates as outlined in item 3. After
checking all of this, I downloaded a fresh copy of the ZA installer,
uninstalled ZA and then re-installed (again!). After installing, I
updated the anti-virus and anti-spyware definitions and ran a full
system scan - nothing was found. When I rebooted the system, the
"Validation Failed" error came up when ZA tried to start. I rebooted
and ZA started normally - this is what it does. I rebooted again and
the "Validation Failed" error came back up, and on and on. Something
that does not make sense to me and very well could be the source of
the problem - when I go to the C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm
folder and look at the certificate information for the files there,
I see the following (if it starts or not):

Issued to: Check Point
Issued by: VeriSign
Valid from: 3/19/2006 to 4/22/2007

Around 4/22/2007 is when I first started having these problems. Why
aren't these certificates updating? After finding this, I am
convinced that this problem is a Check Point ZoneAlarm problem and
not a Microsoft Windows problem.

What now?
