Default Persistent multiple alerts re zlclient and mantispam

I installed ZA originally in Jan on my new HP Pavillion running WinXP Media Center SP2, and then updated to ZoneAlarm ver 7.0.337.000 in mid-March.

For the last 3-4 weeks I've been getting repeated alerts for virtually every program running on my system indicating that it wants to access vlclient.exe, and occasionally for vsmon. In every case I check for all requests and Allow. Yet the Alerts persist. Since they also come up when Win is trying to shut down, I have to sit and watch the machine shutdown lest it hang all night waiting for a permission.

I can't figure out what specifically to change to get this to stop, as its clearly excessive. The pinned post by jarvis is suggestive but isn't specific enough or I just missed it.

Please HELP before I go nuts and believe I'm living in that Mac TV ad!

    TIA

Hi!looks like your ZA database containing ZA settings and ZA permissions is corrupted. The fastest solution is to reset ZA database. However you will loose all your custom configuration in ZA.See here how to do it: http://www2.nohold.net/noHoldCust542...rruptlogs.htmlPlease note that resetting the database will also remove some pre-configured settings at install (e.g. loopback adapter).I would personally reccomend a clean uninstall and reinstall of ZA instead of a ZA database reset. To clean UNinstall you need to follow this procedure:http://www2.nohold.net/noHoldCust542...n_install.html(double check that 'zonelabs' folder in system 32 and 'Internet Log' folderin windows main folder have been deleted otherwise remove them manually)Run a registry/system cleaner. ccleaner is quite good utility (http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?f=3) Re-download the installer from here (and do NOT use any download managers):http://www.zonelabs.com/zasuitedownload/ Install with default settings, do not alter them....Once rebooted manual update the antivirus/antispyware signature ('update now' under the antivirus/antispyware tab)After the update perform a full antivirus/antispyware scan.Cheers,Fax
