I seem to, fairly regularly, get a popup appearing on my Windows XP SP2 machine.
I get multiple occurrences of:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Application Popup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 26
Date: 30/10/2007
Time: 5:10:38 PM
User: N/A
Computer: PIII
Description:
Application popup: Windows - Corrupt File : The file or directory G:\WINNT\Internet Logs\BACKUP.RDB is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I do schedule and run the chkdsk and allow Windows to do whatever it has to but, sooner or later (at least once a fortnight) I'll get this to happen again and I have no idea why.

I've got 1.25 GB free on the drive with the files.

Do I simply boot to safe mode and delete the files in that Internet Logs directory and start again or does anyone have any better suggestions for trying to debug and capture the causes.

I THINK that the updclient program is running but can't say for sure. I'll have to wait for this to happen again.

Oh well. Send this off, reboot, let chkdsk do its thing and away we go again.

Thanks for any helpful suggestions.
