Default Zone Alarm, Vista, and BSOD SOLVED

I bought NEW Sony Vaio Laptop and installed ZA and installed ZA anti-virus 7.1.078 for Vista. Had nothing but BSOD's with varying errors since. Here's how I fixed it. While ZA install disabled the Windows Firewall in Services it was still checked and Started Automatically when Vista booted. In other words it still showed as disabled if you went into the Control Panel but the service was still running. I unchecked the Windows Firewall service and changed the Startup to disabled and have had no more issues.

FYI disabling the firewall service also changed my boot time in Vista from 5 minutes to about 1-2

I have almost the identical situation with my new sony vaio.

however, i'm not sure how exactly i disable the windows firewall.
its turned "off" in control panel, but i still get the bsod whenever i install ZA.
if someone could shed some light, it would be appreciated.

Turn the windows firewall off in the services - diabled and stopped. Not just in the control panel.

do you have any knowledge to what other security services may be in conflict with ZA?
i have both windows defender and spysweeper installed on a new sony vaio with vista home premium.

There could be a conflict with a Sony software such as some Sony internet configuration software. Oldsod.
