Default Zonealarm alerts caused by using printers

    Every time I print something
I get a series of Zonealarm alerts telling me that my printer is trying to access the internet
and subsequently that a printer related program
    is acting as a server.

My entire setup consists of a computer and printer: I have no home network beyond this.
Consequently, I do not understand why printing a document requires any access to the internet.
I have found that, if I switch Zonealarm off, my job will print without any problem and I do not think that any internet interaction is actually taking place.
I understand that I can simply direct
the firewall to always allow these
communications but I am not sure why they are triggered in the first place and whether this is normal.
I have found a similar situation when I run my media player as well.
Can someone tell me why I am encountering these alerts? Is this perfectly normal?Do I need
    do anything beyond
    directing
    Zonealarm to allow the
    programs to run?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I should have mentioned that unless I allow each of the alerts I receive a message to say that "Communication is not available" and the print job fails.

Again a similar thing happens with my media player.

    Hi!
it is usually normal... just allow and tick on 'remember'.
The same applies for media player.

Next time, it could help to know the exact message the IP number and the port.

    Cheers,
