Default anti-virus/anti-spyware panel failed to initialize??

    Good afternoon,

I have logged on the internet about 4 or 5 times since yesterday afternoon and on two occasions right before my desktop was completely loaded I received the following Warning from Zone Alarm:

    Warning:

" ... The anti-virus/anti-spyware panel failed to initialize. The resources for the panel may be corrupt or missing..."

At that point I have to immediately disengage my Cable connection and then restart Zone Alarm and then it seems to fire up correctly.
Prior to yesterday I have been using ZAISS without any major problems.

Any idea of what is causing this particular error message?

    Thanks and regards,

    2harts4ever

    Update:

I just noticed that on another forum on this site the same problem was discussed and a possible solution was given by 'Naive Melody' http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...hread.id=27121

I am giving that a shot and we'll see how it turns out.

    Thanks and regards,

    It usually does the trick.
    Take care, Lyle.

    Update:

So far after about 5 reboots everything seems to be back to normal ... as normal as a computer can get!
Melody's fix seems to be working.

Good to hear. What happened...the files of the ZA in the Internet Logs got corrupted. Deleting the files fixes the problem.

Minor crashes of the OS, BSOD and incorrect shutdowns (hard shutoffs) can corrupt the ZA files. And so can conflicting security software with the ZA.

    Cheers, Oldsod.

    Morning Oldsod,

    I appreciate the further information about possible causes of my original problem. :8}

A few days ago I was forced to have a 'hard shutoff' for a reason I don't even remember now and that must have been what triggered my problem. :0

    Have a great week!

    Thanks and regards,
