    Default TrueVector service has encountered a problem .......

    Just recently I have been getting the following message on two computers (LAN)"
    "TrueVector Service has encountered a problem and needs to close. ...."
    The error report generated by windows gives the following information (on both affected computers):
    szAppName: vsmon.exe

    szAppVer: 7.0.470.0


    szModName: srescan.dll

    szModVer: 5.0.189.0


    offset: 00041f80
    I have 4 computers on my LAN and recently updated them all to ZoneAlarm Pro Ver 7.0.470.0 but only two are affected.
    What gives? Any help would be appreciated.
    btw: I used the update facility to update existing installations of ZA Pro to the above version.

    Hi!
    usually this is due to corrupted settings.

    You may want to try to reset the ZA settings of the machines having problems.

    This way:

    1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
    2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
    3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
    4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
    5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
    6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

    Settings may get corrupted for the following reasons:

    - Crash/hangs of the machine
    - Cold shutdown (incorrect shutdown)
    - Malware infections
    - Compatibility issues with other software running

    If the above fails you may need to remove completely ZA and have a fresh reinstall.

    Thanks for the advice.
    However, need to keep computers on-line and protected with as little trouble as possible
    so have un-installed ZA from all my computers and replaced it with McAfee.
    Rather sad, seeing how I have been using ZAPro for many years without trouble on 98SE systems and on XP systems until recently.
    As a point of interest, ZAPro was installed on all systems together with AVG Free; all systems got the same updates (windows XP, ZAPro and AVG) but only two systems generated the exact same problem.
