    Default ZA Keeps blocking programs

Hi, I have a frustrating problem!!
I have given many programs (eg security programs) complete access to the computer but these and some others are always blocked by ZA with the resulting pop-up that says "Program X is trying to comunicate with VSMON.EXE
This is a pain when I run a scan with an anti-virus or anti-spy program because when I return (expecting the scan to have finished) the scan hasn't finished as it has been stopped by ZA

How can I resolve this problem?

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro

Hi!sounds like your ZA settings are corrupted.Try to reset them and do not load any previous ZA backups. This way:1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootCheers,Fax

    Hi Fax,
Thanks for your reply. A few days ago I did what you said to do and at first I had to decide for some programs to allow or deny. Some have not asked again but still quite a few still ask even though they have complete access to the computer for example Ad-Aware 2008 which got blocked because it tried to communicate with VSMON.EXE so the scan was not finished when I came back 1 hour later, infact it hadn't even started.
    Any ideas?
Do you think I should do a repair install or a re-install?
    Thanks

    Hi!
Assuming you don't have issue with your system not allowing ZA to save properly the settings.
    Then:

You may get different type of warnings from the same software:
A series of warnings related to internet access (trusted or internet zone, act as a server, etc)
A series of warnings by the ZA OS firewall (e.g. processes using other processes).

Just go to the ZA program control --> program list --> find ad-aware items.
Ensure they are all set to super trusted (three green bars). This will silent the ZA OS firewall.
Ensure you have given the appropriate permission for internet access.

Shutdown ZAPRO, wait 2-3 minutes, Startup ZA, check the permission have been kept.

    Cheers,
    Fax

Ok I have done what you said but I still receive the blocked window and have to click to allow some programs, even though I have allowed them complete run of the computer. For example I've just run Ad-aware but it was blocked twice.

Do you think I shoud try a re-install? If so what should I delete? Or do you have any other ideas?

    Thanks again

    Hi!
Not normal.... can you actually post the complete logs of what was blocked?
Have you granted access full access to all files? Did you perhaps activated the advanced component control? (it will create a lot of warnings.

Better you do a complete removal with /clean switch.

See how to do it here:
    http://www2.nohold.net/noHoldCust542...n_install.html
(remember to remove the folders detailed at the end of the above document and keep note of your license since it will be wiped out).

Keep ZAPRO at default and DO NOT load any previous backup of the settings.

Are you experiencing hangs or crash of your PC?
Do you force or accelerate the shutdown?
Have you checked you are fully clean of malware?
What other security tools are you using? There may be some conflicts.

The above are all possible causes of ZA database corruption.

    Cheers,
    Fax
