Default Windows XP SP3 and ZoneAlarm Pro 8 not playing well together

I recently installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 and updated to the most recent version of Zone Alarm Pro. Since then, Windows XP keeps telling me that the Zone Alarm firewall is not running, but Zone Alarm insists that the firewall is indeed running.

I suspect this is a problem with the TrueVector service. Does anyone know how I can get these two to play nice together?

    Thanks!

Hi!the simplest approach is the following:1. Right click on the ZA icon near the clock ---> choose shutdown ZA2. Wait 2 - 3 minutes3. Open again ZA from all programs --> ZoneAlarm --> ZoneAlarm SecurityCheers,Fax

Thanks, but I have already done that. I guess I should have explained further. This solution works for a while. For me, it solved the problem for a day or two, but then the issue returned. What I am looking for is a PERMANENT solution. Any more ideas?

    Thanks!

Hi!this means that your WSC is corrupted.Sometimes there is no solution then a reinstall of the OS.Try this and see if it makes any difference:1. Go to control panel and open Administrative tools.
    2. Click on services.
    3. Go down to Windows Management Instrumentation.
    4. Stop this service. Stop Security Center service too.
    Set them to Automatically start.
    5. Exit out of this area, to your desktop.
    6. Right click Start, and choose Explore.
    7. Go to c:\windows\system32\wbem\repository.
    Delete this subdirectory ONLY.
    Leave the others there.
    8. Exit back to your desktop and reboot your computer (you might need to boot twice).

This will rebuild the deleted folder, and the database.
Once restarted, Windows Security Center should show the correct info.
Antivirus, and firewall, should now be recognized.

Thanks, Fax! This procedure appears to have solved the problem, at least for now. It is worth noting, for the benefit of other users who may have the same or similar problems, the following small glitches:

    1. When WMI is shut down, it automatically shuts down the Security Center service as well.
    2. Even with WMI and SCa shut down, the directory 'repository' cannot be deleted, due to files still in use by other services. I had to manually shut down most of the other services before I could successfully delete this folder.

    Hi!
or boot the PC in SAFE MODE.
    That should be enough.
