    Default Windows Log in and Zone Alarm shutdown

    Just upgraded to Zone Alarm free edition 8.0. I am running XP Home SP3.
    Logon with Administrator account works fine with ZA loading and running normally.
    When switching user to log in for first time using a second, Limited account, I get error message "Zone Alarm has encountered a problem" and needs to shutdown.
    All other software and services for that account load fine and run normally.
    Restarting ZA from Start Menu results in same error message.
    Anyone else have this problem with a second XP account?
    Note that this is not an intermittent problem but occurs every single time attempting to log in with this account.
    Appreciate any help with this.

    There are many entries I see when SEARCHed about fast user switching.
    These had answers:
    http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...d=71328#M47989
    http://forums.zonealarm.com/zonelabs...ssage.id=40843

    Has it worked for you in previous version(s)?

    It didnt occur to me to search on "fast user switching" however neither of those links document the problem I am having.
    And yes, user switching worked flawlessly with the prior version of ZA I was running.

    I am having exactly the same problem. XP Home SP3. ZoneAlarm Free, Verson 8.0.065.000. Installed as Administrator. Works great. Log off Adminustrator and log on as any other regular user and I get the
    "Zone Alarm has encountered a problem" message and it quits. Previous versions of ZA have all worked flawlessly.
    Have tried all the obvious stuff (uninstalled/reinstalled, backed off the last
    four WindowsUpdates patches, turned off antivirus software, etc). Same symptoms.
    If anyone finds a solution, please post it because I hate doing everything (i.e., web surfing) as Administrator.

    Findley,
    I sent them a detailed request on Saturday, 3/14 and have not heard anything.
    Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

    Thank you for your feedback..1.) when you submited your help Request to Tech support, did you receive an auto generated Confirmation Email with your Service Ticket Number?If not then Tech Support never got your Message..2.) ZA Tech support always answer(usually in 2-3 Business days depending on case load) , if you do not get an answer it may meanthat ISP or your E-mail system has junked the response,Check your Junkmail folder.Use Internet Explorer to submit thefull details of your problem and if you do not get an Auto-generated confirmation email .. Use a free e-mail like hotmail or Gmail as contact address You should receive an automatic confirmation response by ZA after 5-20 minutes with your ticket number.If you have not received it then your ISP has junked it or Bounced it back to Zonealarm...ZA technical support can be reached here: www.zonealarm.com/tsform--------------------------------------------------------

    Unless something changed recently, free users can't use the usual tsform link because they do not have a licence to paste. There might exist other methods of contact, but I don't know them.

    GeorgeV,
    I was not aware free tech support was only for purchased products (however that didnt stop IE from submitting the form);
    I was just following the advice of another poster.
    Never had any intention to get free tech support for the free version.
    A bit presumptuous on your part to believe my intentions were otherwise.
    Came to this forum to see if others are experiencing same/similar problems and maybe find a potential fix or workaround.
    Thought I was using the forum in the exact manner as intended.

    Its been a nice run with ZA up to this problem;
    always worked fine through various OS and ZA upgrades.
    Time to move on I guess.
