Default Ran a System restore & broke zone alarm extreme!

When i started up windows (XP Pro) today I had a problem logging in: as soon as I tried to log in, i momentarily saw the desktop, then it logged me back out again, this happened in all user accounts. Anyway, i could log in using safe mode, so i did this and ran a system restore. That worked succesfully and fixed the login problem.

However, ZoneAlarm extreme has gone crazy!

First of all a dialog box pops up to tell with an error saying that virus scanning has switched off, which might be something to do with a change the the system clock, "click here to re-enable scanning"... it doesnt matter if i click it or not... soon after that windows security centre tells me that my firewall and anti-virus have now switched off. If I try to restart ZoneAlarm using the link from the startbar, it starts up, but then its killed again. I watched the processes in the task manager: you se forcefield etc appear, then disappear, then the Security Centre pops up to tell me they are switched off again.

My last virus scan showed that there were no viruses on the PC, there doesn't seem to be anything dodgy in the registry under the HKLM/Software/Microsfot/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run, or in the temp folder, or windows folder and there are no questionable processes running.

I am assuming that ZoneAlarm is having problems because of the system restore, but not sure how to fix it. any suggestions?

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Extreme Security

You are Correct, If the Restore point was not made after ZoneAlarm Extreme Security was installed, then Restoring to a point Before ZAX was installed will Corrupt your ZAX install..Your Best option is a Clean Uninstall of ZAX and Re-install..It looks like your Have Corrupted your Installed ZA files..The simplest procedure is to :1.Download the Latestinstallerpreferably with IE Browserand no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire,BitTorrent) (MultiPlatform, installer will install on Both WinXP and Vista)ZAX http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.html2. On your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview --> Preferences tab)3. Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory4.) Now use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here > http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exeSave to desktop, right click and "run as administrator"This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.

Please just download and run the tool, following the instructions.
(you can un-install without net connections)5.) Install the new update (clean or upgrade) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..NOTICE:Please note that ZASS and ZAXdo not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled). To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAX issues removethe other Security programsand install them back once you see that ZA works as it should. For example,Norton/Symantec, McAfee,AVG, Spyspweeper, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotS&D, PC tools Threat Fire, any otherAnti-virus, Anti-spyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc...ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version:8.0.298.035
