    Default internet & email access

Hi,I'm running XP SP1 with Zone Labs Firewall. Have recenlty changed to broadband access. When I open outlook express, I get a message saying the host cannot be found. When I open Explorer6, I get a message telling me the website is not available. If I disable Zone Labs, access automatically happens. I uninstalled Zone labs firewall and re-installed it, but same problem occurs. What should I do now?

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)
    Software Version:6.0

First ensure that Generic Host Process(svchost.exe) has been given access to the trusted and internet zone, and server rights to the trusted zone only(not the internet zone!).

If you still can't access the net, try to add your DHCP and DNS servers to the trusted zone. Try Ad-Hock's instructions or Hoov's instructions(has pics):

Thank you for your previous advice. Yesterday, I did a clean uninstall then re-installed and everything was ok. When I turned on my computer this morning, I could not gain net or email access as had been happening previously. When I checked the logs, it showed that the svc host had been blocked as a medium threat. But, in the program controls, svc host is ticked for access for internet and trusted and ticked trusted for server. What should I do now? Thanks,Brian Rayner.
