Default Zone Alarm Blocks access to all but one computer

Here's my dilemma that I have been trying to solve for some time. I have a smaller computer network, which fluctuates in size due to laptop traffic. There is always a server runnning linux and a desktop running windows xp sp2. All the windows computers have no trouble connecting to each other when zone alarm is off because on the medium and high settings they block network traffic. The problem seems to be that the desktop with zone alarm installed won't accept network connections no matter what I do. I can ping it and receive a reply, but I can't access it. When I set the firewall to "off" and I try to access it with \\computername the zone alarm control center reports another blocked attack. I even uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. Windows firewall is off and it has no problems accessing the internet. Could anybody shed some light on this situation?
    Thanks a lot.

DO you have the subnet of the LAN in the trusted zone in ZA?

What exactly do you mean by subnet? I have the IP range of the LAN in the subnet yes.

yeah. I think I fixed the problem. Packet sharing was disabled, so I think that would cause a problem. :-)
Thanks a lot for your time and effort.
