If it forgets your settings again, resetting your database should fix the problem. A fresh install does reset your database BTW. Here's how you reset; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

    1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode. {Instructions if needed}
    2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.
    3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.
    4.Reboot into the normal mode.

I am having the same problem.

I use ZA 5.5 freeversion with windows 2000.

I have used ZA for years and now suddenly after a reboot, ZA will not maintain any zones. They disappear every time the firewall is restarted or the computer is rebooted.

I will try the solution offered here by deleting the logs.

Great the solution also removes all of the settings for my 'program' access.
This was sort of like, removing my eye because it hurt.

Ha,Bill did mention you would loose all your customizations in his post,it is however necessary if your database id corrupted within ZoneAlarm.

Yes, he did mention that all custom settings would be lost.

Given that we were in an /internet log
directory, and were discussing zones.. I incorrectly concluded that all custom 'zone' settings would be lost, which had already been done anyway.

For ZL to store their configuration in the /windows structure is poor design. Why dont they use /program files
    like everyone else?

Also, if this is a known issue, why don't they have a database 'repair' feature?

What corrupts the database in the first place? My system is and has been stable for years.

The ZoneAlarm database has become a finicky feature,it can be corrupted by many factors, crashes, power surges, other programs corrupting its database, and many other reasons not even worth mentioning.

The other questions you may want to submit to ZoneLabs.
