Default ZoneAlarm 6.1.737.000 Hurt My Connection... Help?

Well, I installed the free version of ZoneAlarm 6.1.737.000 to give it a trial run. Instead of liking what I saw when using it, I noticed that it caused my Internet connection to slow way down. I allowed each of the things I wanted to allow, and there was nothing that I needed to deny at all. Somehow it still caused the speed to drop way down and it wasn't even blocking anything according to the program. So, I finally decided to just uninstall the program straight from the menu that you can bring up with Start -> All Programs -> ZoneAlarmSuite (can't remember the exact name). So it seemed to uninstall just fine and everything until I tried to download a file. It told me that I was firewalled and I couldn't get the file. I have Windows Firewall disabled, and now I don't know what to do to fix this problem. If someone knows why this is happening and can help I'd be very grateful! Thank you in advance. Any advice is much appreciated.

Reinstall ZA, and then if you want to uninstall it, there are instructions on my site for uninstalling it cleanly. But if you want to try and fix the slow problem, try running winsockxpfix available from and repair your Winsock (after ZA is reinstalled).
