Default Zone Alarm blocks printer IP - why?

I've just purchased a Fuji Xerox DCC250 network printer, scanner, fax.I can only aquire scans from within CorelDraw, Paint Shop Pro, etc when I turn Zone Alarm Off.I have put the machine's IP address into the trusted zone as 192.168.1.13 which is the machinesaddress according to its' properties.
It prints fine, faxes fine, copies fine but won't scan.Anybody out there with any clues as to why this might be as I'm coming to the end of my tether on this matter. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

    Operating System:Windows 2000 Pro
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro
    Software Version:6.1

Is your program control in ZA on medium? If not try putting it there.

The program control is already set at medium and Smart Defense is set at auto. Thanks for the suggestion but ZA still has to be switched off to scan.

Do you have any program expert rules that could be causing problems, or global firewall expert rules?

Thanks for the suggestion but no - there's no expert rules in place.
Both Internet and Trusted zones are set at medium as is Program Control.
The scanner is listed in the firewall trusted zone with the correct IP address.
I'm wondering if I should just disable ZA permanently and rely on the router's security settings?
