    Angry Proxy servers?

another ?, apparently my PC is revealing my IP address.

Being a new problem for me, I'm not sure what is the best thing to do.

I know you can purchase IP proxy programs but at present I would rather
not spend any more cash on
security programs, so the ? is am I able to disguise my IP address by just configuring my computer's Windows or,
    is there
reliable freeware proxy programs which have <help sections> in them,
because the ones I have seen so far give no clue what
if you are new to this.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro
    Software Version:5.x

Lets get one thing very clear - revealing your IP address IS NOT a security issue and indeed, is a necessary part of accessing the Internet.

You cannot prevent your PC from revealing your IP address. If that happened, requested web pages would never find their way back to your PC because they would not know where to go!

What you can do is go through an intermediate (called a proxy) to prevent a web server from identifying where access has come from. The web server will see a request from the proxy who will then forward it back to you. There are public proxies available but remember, although your IP address will not be sent to the web server it will be sent to the proxy.

Try one of the proxies at but make sure you select a "highly anonymous" one and test if it is still active.
