I recently updated to ZoneAlarm 6.1.74.001 and noticed two things:
The ZA icon no longer appears in the bottom right hand corner of the screen by default. If I start it in Start / Programs / Zone Labs etc it appears and stays there until I reboot. (Zone Alarm actually is running, according to the Security Center.)
The major problem is that when I update a program that has Internet access the program is blocked from Internet access, without explanation.
I recently updated Forte Agent newsreader from 1.9.x to 3.3. When I tried to retrieve new headers Agent gave the following error message:
>Agent Task Error
>Server news.grc.com: The connection was refused by the server
>Task: Get new headers for grc.leaktest
>Time: 10/04/2006 12:23:37 PM
>Status: Retry in 11 seconds
Forte support said that it was likely my firewall that was blocking access, which I found hard to believe at first. However, I went to add programs in the Program panel of ZoneAlarm and added the new version of Agent, and it worked perfectly after that.
The same thing happened with Mozilla Firefox when I upgraded to 22.214.171.124 this morning. I added the program manually in ZoneAlarm and it then started to access the Internet again.
There used to be an automatic popup when a program changed, notifying that the program had changed and was seeking to access the Internet. Has this feature been removed?
