    Grateful for advice:
I have set up a local network to give access to a common printer for my B-computer.However ZA installed on my A-computer is blocking the access! How do I add the printer to trusted zone?

    Hi torl,

Did you give spoolsv.exe Access Rights at ProgramControl Programs?
Spoolsv.exe is a Microsoft Windows system executable which handles the printing process to your local printers.

    Open ZoneAlarm at your taskbar.

Go to Program Control Programs tab. Scroll down and have a look for spoolsv.exe. Give it Access rights with a mouse click.

A green check mark for Internet and Trusted Zone. You don't have to give it Server Rights.

Hope this info has helped you, if not PLEASE post back.

Thank you for your time and have a nice day!

Hi SlyFox and thanks for your advice.

Have tried to find spoolsv.exe under the Programs tab, but it does not appear to be there.
I have 4 other Windows items there but not the one you suggested.

How do I get hold of it ?

(I am not very familiar with these things!)

    Kind regards,

    Tor Loken

    Hi torl,

Look for "Spooler SubSystem" in the Programs Control column. PLEASE let me know if you found it or not.

    Hi SlyFox,

Sorry, but I do not find any Spooler Subsystem in the Program column.

There are 26 items there, but no Spooler Subsystem.

    Kind regards,

    Tor

    Hi again SlyFox,

I have looked for the "spoolersv.exe" as joe suggests in his e-mail, but cannot find such a file among the 26 items in the programlist.
The only red cross (which is producing a block) appears in the Server Internet column against the WIN 2000 Operating system with file:
    "svchost.exe".

Now my Norton antivirus programme has previously warned me that
the mentionned file may give me trouble.

Therefore I did a reload recently and reinstalled all programmes to get rid of the virus trouble I had at the time.
I would therefore hesitate to remove the block which ZA seems to have produced against that file (if I have understood
    the situation
    correctly).

By reading previous messages it would appear that the problem arouse with an update of ZA.
The choice I have at the moment is either to switch off ZA or suffer the numerous warnings that ZA gives me every hour.

I would very much appreciate more advice on the matter.

    Kind regards,

    Tor

    Hi torl,

    Let's try this one

To share printers and files with other computers on your network, you will need to configure ZoneAlarm to allow access to the computers with which you plan to share resources. To configure ZoneAlarm for file and printer sharing, first make sure that your network is in the Trusted Zone.

To make sure you can connect to your home network and share resources, open the ZoneAlarm user interface > click on Firewall (left-hand column) > and select the Zones tab.

Under the Name column, find your home network (it might be the only listing). Under the Zone column, click one time on Internet.

A little box should appear (as seen in the picture below) that says "Internet" and "Trusted". Click on Trusted.

    Close ZoneAlarm.

Next, go to Firewall (left-hand column) > Main tab > and make sure that the Internet Zone setting is on "High" and the Trusted Zone setting is on"Medium".

Hope this info will solve the problem, if not PLEASE post back.

    Dear SlyFox,

Success in the end, and a big thank to you for finding a way out of the problem!
Thanks also for being so patient.

The last procedure worked wonders, and I now see that I did not have sufficient knowledge about ZA.

It is wonderful that we can communicate like this across the Atlantic and find solutions.

    Thanks again.
I shall remember you in my will.

    Kind regards,

    Hi torl,

    You are very welcome!

I "REALLY" enjoy helping people with their computer problems, as I have been there myself many times.
Yes, it's really "AWESOME" how we can communicate across the ocean and find solutions.
You live in one of the beautiful countries of the world.
Even though I have never been there, but I always enjoyed my travels to Switzerland and Austria which are also very beautiful.
It's been great talking to you.
    Good Luck!
